一、藝術家介紹 About Artist
黃大安老師生於1950年,年輕的他職業是國小老師,除了教書以外,他幾乎把熱情都放在攀登台灣的山岳中。台灣的山地奇險秀麗,在登山的過程中,隨著高度的上升,感受到的溫度也逐漸變化,身邊的景色與植被也慢慢不同,往往是山下看著晴空萬里,但是到了山上卻是雲霧繚繞,變化莫測。
在黃老師接觸陶藝創作後,他開始思考如何將山上這變化萬千的風景,帶入人們的生活中,柴燒恰是一種方式,將意識中的山林與自然之美,取材於大地的泥土與薪柴,以柴火與泥土共同創作,將屬於萬物的色彩與紋理化為一件件生活中的器皿,妙造自然。
Huang Da An was born in 1950 and served as a grade school teacher for most of his life. During his spared time, he dedicated himself to hiking in the mountains in Taiwan, appreciating the sublimity of the wild nature and experiencing the change of the surroundings—as the altitude reaches higher, temperature drops, vegetation changes; once cloudless, later misty were the mountains. The unpredictability itself is a beauty.
When Huang encountered the ceramic art and decided to master it, he began to think how to bring the transient beauty of the mountains into his work, and subsequently to the day to day life of others. For him, the wood-firing ceramic art is the way to crystallise the magnificience of the forest and wild life in his mind: a combination of earth and wood. Through the transforming wood fire, the colours and patterns of nature are infused to the day to day objects—yet, still a wonder of nature.

三、展覽介紹 Introduction of Exhibition
器物承載著生活中的美學與哲理-器之所成,精神所至,機緣而化。
黃大安以素人藝術家的身份,透過對柴燒的熱愛,經過多年的突破與開創,將柴燒作品的自然之美透過傳統技法演繹出屬於當代的生活美學,正是黃大安柴燒作品所傳遞出的內涵。
期待透過一連串國內外的巡展,讓更多觀眾能欣賞到人與自然共同創作的自然之美。
Ceramic art works are with the beauty and philosophy of life: an embodiment of passion, endeavor, and respect of impermanence .
Huang Da An, a self-taught artist, renovates the traditional wood-firing ceramic art with his passion and decade-long experiment. Huang discovered a new way of using the traditional wisdom to translate the ancient art into the contemporary mode of art that resonate with the aesthetic ideals of this era—the deepest meaning Huang’s work would want to convey.
We look forward to sharing this beauty of nature brought by the harmonious collaboration between human and the Nature with a series of local and international exhibitions.
四、柴燒與現代燒製工藝的區別 Difference of the Craft of Wood Firing and Contemporary Firing Processes
●氣泡的區別
柴燒作品在燒製過程中需不斷加柴,所以溫度時高時低,無法保持恆定。若出現開片的效果,表現在氣泡上就是大小不一,有一定層次感。而現代窯大多使用煤氣和電,氣泡大小均勻密集。
●釉面色彩的區別
柴燒由於溫度變化,木材燃燒產生的灰燼和火焰宜接竄入窯內,在坯體上產生自然落灰現象,經長時間高溫融合成自然的灰釉,其色澤溫暖、層次豐富。天然落灰釉的呈色不易控制,易燒出深淺及產生各種細微色彩變化的效果。現代使用瓦斯或電可以恒溫控制,因此燒出顏色穩定。
●釉面層次的區別
落灰會因火焰走勢在作品上產生律動感,且能感受灰釉堆疊層次,彷彿重現作品在窯中時光的積累。天然灰釉的質地粗獷有力,深厚紮實、與一般華麗光亮的釉面不同,不會重複且很難預期它燒窯的成果。
●火痕的區別
柴燒燒成的作品有受火面與背火面的陰陽變化與火焰痕跡。記錄著柴燒作品在窯內火焰流竄的生命歷程。
●Difference of Bubble Appearances
Wood fired works during firing process needs non-stop adding of straws, therefore, the temperature goes high and low and cannot keep constant. If cracking effect appeared on the bubbles, the bubble size does not keep the same, which gives a certain gradation nuance to them. The modern kiln oven mostly uses natural gas and electricity, and the bubbles come out even-sized and dense.
●Difference of Colors of Glazed Surface
Wood firing gives natural ash glazing on cups through changes of temperature and ash and flame produced from burned wood fleeing into chamber directly. After long hours burning at high temperature, it fuses to natural ash glaze, and its outlook is warm colored with containing rich gradations. Coloring of natural ash glazing is not easy to control, and which is easy to achieve dark and light as well as occur various subtle color differences effect. In modern times, natural gas and electricity which can control constant temperature are mostly used, and thus can achieve stable color.
●Difference of Gradations of Glazed Surface
Ash glaze gives works a touch of dynamism produced by direction of fire, and we can also feel layers of gradations of ash glaze, as if it resembles the accumulation of time that the works were in chamber.
●Difference of Melted Marks Caused by Fire
Burned works by wood firing gain changes of ying-yang on their surface and unexposed surface as well as melted marks caused by fire. Engraved the life course of the wood fired works experienced the fire hither and thither in chamber.
